CHN Organic Elemental Analysis Service:

ANALEST offers staff-run CHN organic elemental analysis as a service for internal and external users. This service is for analysis of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen only. Samples are run on Thursdays. Samples submitted after 10 am Thursday may not be run the same week. A minimum sample mass of 5 mg is required.

All samples must be accompanied by the appropriate form. External clients: Please contact us for a separate sample submission form.

You can drop off samples and pick up your analysis results at the table in the hallway outside ANALEST. Samples that are shipped to us from external clients will have results delivered by email.

Special information for carbonaceous samples only (e.g. graphite, activated charcoal, char, etc.):

Carbonaceous CHN samples are best analyzed under different conditions than our regular CHN service. The frequency of our carbonaceous CHN service is responsive to demand:

• If enough carbonaceous samples are submitted, they will be run weekly.
• On a week when few carbonaceous samples are submitted, we may wait until the next week to run them in order to accumulate a larger batch for analysis. This does not apply to ordinary CHN samples.
